The Curriculum
Children are welcomed to LHS at the age of three for mornings only sessions. Through fun and play in a structured environment they steadily gain confidence to embark on their first steps in reading, writing, and number work.
At a suitable time the transition to full-time school is made. The curriculum is designed to give a proper balance between the fostering of learning skills and the encouragement of the creative spirit present in all of us.
We follow the guidelines of the national curriculum to achieve a high level of knowledge in the core subjects of English, Mathematics, and Science. The children are also taught History, Geography, Religious Education, ICT, and Art.
In addition to providing a strong academic base, children are encouraged through gentle discipline to develop the necessary life skills of self-control, politeness, and thought for the needs of others.
Homework is expected from children at all levels in the school. This encourages self discipline and stimulates independent thought and effort.
